My latest UK weather tracker shows that September was a very showery month with 60% of days experiencing rainfall but with a low intensity. For most Brits, the early autumn (meteorologically defined as September to November) was not an excuse to break out the rain coats!

The most notable statistic in September was the number of rainy days which at 60% was the 2nd highest on record beaten only by 1974. Overall rainfall though was entirely normal which meant the rain intensity was below normal. Clearly this indicates a showery month rather than a wet month.
