The UK weather gods followed up the hottest June on record with the 5th wettest July on record.  In doing so, the weather prevented England from winning the 4th test against Australia and thus winning back the Ashes.  The Aussies clearly brought their weather gods with them!

June 2023 was the hottest on record in the UK.  It was also the 4th sunniest & 7th widest temperature range but rainfall was normal so my abnormality index did not exceed my threshold to be marked as an unusual month.  When you look back at the historical temperature range,  one could say that a June as hot as this was overdue which leaves May as the only month overdue for a new record.

As we move from February to March, it normally gets warmer and brighter in the UK.  Unusually, March 2023 was colder than February, it didn’t brighten and it was wetter than normal.  However the abnormality index says this is just typical British weather!
