Pay Gap Case Study #6 – How Rishi Sunak became Prime Minister
Rishi Sunak is the UK’s first Prime Minister from a non-white ethnic minority. Did this happen by accident or were the Tories working towards this day over the last 20 years?
A recent article in the Sydney Morning Herald by an Australian journalist Latika Burke argues it was the latter. This is well worth reading because it goes into some depth about what the Conservatives did to get to this position. When I combine this article with what I have said before about closing pay and representation gaps, I consider the Conservative party to be a valuable case study for any employer who wishes to close their gaps.

UK Weather Trends #22 – Summer 2022
The 2022 UK summer was the 4th warmest & 9th driest on record. When looked at using principal components, the summer was definitely a good one and showed up yet again my inability to predict good summers!
UK Weather Tracker #67 – August 2022
August 2022 was the 4th warmest, 4th sunniest & 10th driest on record. When looking at average daily maximum temperatures, it was the 2nd warmest (after 1995) but the average daily minimums (at night) was only the 10th warmest. I certainly noticed myself that nightime temperatures were not as bad as I’ve experienced in recent years and the wide temperature range was certainly welcome.

The 5th warmest July on record included a new record temperature of 40.3C on 19th July. It was also drier than usual with some parts of the UK recording their lowest ever rainfall in July.
